MESSAGE BEFORE BREAK |
|
04/03/20
|
Good Day. While these are challenging times, we must rise to the challenge. These circumstances will not continue indefinitely, and we must be prepared to move on when this is over. That means keeping up with the assignments given. But I have not heard from some of you at all during this crisis.
Please be aware that if you do not complete the quarter and semester coursework as assigned by your teachers there is a possibility of summer school work to complete course requirements. Classes are geared directly towards the content necessary to prepare you to be ready and move on when we return to a standard school setting.
If you have ANY questions about assignments, look at your teachers’ websites and emails; attend class help sessions; send questions to your teachers, who are happy to address ANY concerns that you have; and above all, try to stay current with the work so it doesn’t pile up. All of us are working for your success, the administration, the teachers, your parents, and above all, you!
So PLEASE, can we do these things?
Thank you.
Dr. McCoy

- Submit your work on time to your teacher.
- If you cannot complete the work, ask questions!
- If you’re going to be late, let the teacher know you are working on it.
- Work within the time allotted for the class, but work DILIGENTLY; that is, give that class your complete attention during its time.
- Go outside and get some sun, air, and exercise each day to clear your mind and refresh your body.
- ENJOY SPRING BREAK and return with a renewed attitude and determination to succeed.
Thank you.

REMOTE LEARNING |
|
03/26/20
|
With everything that is going on, there will be some confusion. Please ask questions!.
- Different classes have different assignments.
- Periods 3 and 4 are 7th grade
- Periods 5 and 6 are 8th grade
- Period 7 is 6th grade
- Period 8 is Engineering for Everyone ONLY.
- Each class needs to do the assignments posted for that class as emailed each week.
- Remote learning is evolving
- As we go through the quarter, we may be using different platforms and apps. Right now, we are using Padlet to post the Safety Signs assignment only.
- Please do not mail links or assignments to me unless they are requested. Thank you.
- Most of your work should not take a lot of time.
- Many assignments are relatively short.
- Some assignments may span multiple weeks.
- Do not think that you should have each assignment done and submitted in one day.
- Assignments have a purpose.
- Each assignment has a purpose and a product.
- The product is not what is important.
- The writing homework assignments expose you to technical articles, and give practice in reading, digesting, and summarizing or synthesizing information.
- The Safety Sign project is like a DBQ (Document-Based Questioning).
- You are limited to the information provided.
- You must READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.
- In engineering, process is almost everything.
QUARTER END |
|
03/17/20
|
All recovery assignments and projects were due on the Friday before this crisis began. As a result, all recovery completed by the hard grade deadline was included in the final quarter grade. Projects were also graded leniently.
As we begin a new quarter, assignments will be made virtually and results may be submitted electronically. Information and instructions will be provided as we progress through this quarter.

ENGINEERING DESIGN PROJECT |
|
02/05/20
|
We have begun studying the engineering design process. During this, students will research, design and build a project, documenting their work along the way in an engineering portfolio. Most of the work can be accomplished in class.
There are, during this time, a number of deliverables, graded work. It is important that students keep current on their work and focused.

INSTRUCTOR
I am Dr. Everett McCoy. I have been teaching in Fulton County since 2005. I have a background in mathematics, science, and engineering and technology. I have created lessons for all ages from Pre-K to University. I have taught Middle School, High School, College, University, Technical College, Adults, and On-Line. I know from whence they came and where they are going. I look forward to working with them and letting them experience engineering.
